The Blaffer Art Museum at University of Houston presents a special concert performance led by DJ Sun to mark the release of his third album, Loveletter: Red Hook to Rotterdam, at Moores Opera House on the UH main campus.
Joining DJ Sun on stage will be a 14-piece orchestral group, rapper Fat Tony, singers SAM/SIN and Louis Morales (lead singer of reggae band DEM), astrologer Jasmine Richardson and Houston Poet Laureate Outspoken Bean.
Leading the rhythm section will be world renowned drummer Chris Dave, HSPVA grad, a drummer with credits that include Adele’s 21, D’Angelo’s Black Messiah, and many others, and his band, The Drumhedz.
The Houston recording artist is former KPFT radio host and University of Houston alum. His new album—releasing on Saturday, July 23, 2022—is inspired by French new wave, '60s soul, and the desire to maintain genuine human expression in the modern, technological age. Loveletter is a memoir to love marrying lo-fi aesthetics, vintage musings, and lush textures and sounds.
Doors at 6:30pm. Show at 8pm.
